Charles Michel (1874-1967)
Landscape painter, figures and portraits. Lithographer and illustrator, decorator.
Studies at the Academy of Liège and the Academy of Fine Arts in Paris. Made his first exhibition at the Royal Academy in London in 1894. Returns to Belgium where he engages in decorative painting, especially orientalist scenes.
Attracted from an early age by drawing and painting, Charles MICHEL directed, to provide training, numerous copies of the great classic masters and has documented himself in numerous journals and technical works, notably collecting the enlightened advice of Mr. Xavier de Langlais, teacher at the School of Fine Arts in Rennes.
He favored as subjects, the landscapes of the Limousin region, by striving to move through a delicate execution, but whose rigor makes it a finished work of quality.
His painting is solid, applied most often in glaze, giving transparency and depth to his creations
Also Tank Creator. Member of the Society of Belgian Aquafortists and of the Pour l’Art and Original Belgian Engraving circles. Lived on the Grand Place in Brussels in the years 30 and 40. Works in Ixelles museum, Liege and Paris (Carnival).
