KHANDEKAR Sanjeev (1958 in),

is born in 1958, and never raised a brush or even dreamed of being an artist until 1996, when he had almost 40 ans.

The painting

Khandekar's watercolors and pastels on paper resonate with the confidence of an artist who knows exactly what he wants to communicate to his viewers.

Often his works, divided into two separate panels, depict urban scenarios and the people who play a role in these ever-changing societies, as fleeting as this role may be.

Sanjeev estime qu’avant même que quiconque ait la chance de voir ce qui se passe, Indian society will be invaded by the culture without roots and traditions of the West, and warns us to sit down and take note.

Writer and activist

Sanjeev est mieux connu en tant qu’écrivain, activiste socioculturel et environnemental qu’en tant qu’artiste, because he has been painting for less than ten years. His first book & lsquo; Sankalp’ (written in 1982) a reçu le prix Maharashtra Sahitya Parishad, and was followed by a novel based on his industrial experiences in 1992, titled & lsquo; Ashant Parva’ ou ‘Season of Unrest’. Granthali, a collective movement of readers based in Maharashtra, has published both books and is currently working on the publication of his third book, un volume de la poésie récente, which reflects themes similar to those found in his paintings.

Journalist

He writes a number of articles for several different daily newspapers and magazines on various environmental issues, landscaping, tropical flora and fauna, among others. Besides writing books and articles, Khandekar was editor of "Sujan", a magazine for non-governmental organizations, from 1990 at 1995. He is also a member of various environmental and social committees, including those of states and national governments. , World Wildlife Fund and various other NGOs in Maharashtra.

Expositions

He participated in various group exhibitions, including the annual exhibitions of the Mumbai Art Society at the Jehangir Art Gallery, Mumbai en 1999, 2000 and 2001; the Bombay Art Society's special exhibition at the Lalit Kala Academy in Delhi in 1996; and exhibitions at the Sans Tache gallery in 1999 and at the Guild Art Gallery in 2001, Mumbai. Khandekar lives and works in Mumbai.
