Ceramist

Ceramic artist and textile artist, daughter of a factory owner Oscar Claesson and Signe Andersson.
Ilse, who has been married twice, marries the second time in 1950 with director Sven Axel Wilhelm Roempke.
She received her training at the School of Gothenburg crafts association in the years 1923-28 and completed one of the best in its class.
Ilse's good knowledge leads to a job at Rörstrand (one of the best known porcelain brands in Sweden) and his first mission was the decoration of old unvarnished pots, what impresses the factory management. She would later be behind many of the big sales (bestsellers)
de Rörstrand, among others the blue-white series and the V series in black and green, truly one of Rörstrand's greatest successes.

In 1930 she participated in the Stockholm exhibition and was then invited, with Tyra Lundgren, as
as an artist in Arabia in Finland by the director C-G Herlitz.

In 1936, with the move from Rörstrand to Lidköping, she chooses to leave the company to dedicate herself to her family. A Rörstrand, they continue to produce his objects for a few more years.

Around 1940 a new career begins. In his uncle's workshop, Ilse begins to decorate wooden figures, colored in gingerbread color, that she sells through craft shops and 5 years later in 1945 she became a teacher at the school of the Gothenburg craft association and divorced her husband at the time and a few years later she remarried Sven Axel Vilhelm Roempke.

She then begins to work as a full-time textile artist and her studio will be integrated into the printing house of her husband Sven. There she makes figures on the theme of runners and weavings which were then printed by Sven. The runners were then sold by “mail order” and were called “the sewing of Ilse”.

the 3 August 1979 Sven dies and 2 years later, the 3 mars 1999 Isle also dies.

His objects in Rörstrand are signed “IC”, “I.C” or “I.C.” and his signed textile works “Ilse Roempke”.
