KHANDEKAR Sanjeev (1958 in),

is born in 1958, and never raised a brush or even dreamed of being an artist until 1996, when he had almost 40 ans. This novelist and author who became an artist abandons writing and turning to painting, as a form of expression simply because words are no longer enough to express what he feels, When so much happen and transform into the environment around it.

The painting

Khandekar's watercolors and pastels on paper resonate with the confidence of an artist who knows exactly what he wants to communicate to his viewers.

Often his works, divided into two separate panels, depict urban scenarios and the people who play a role in these ever-changing societies, as fleeting as this role may be. By portraying these people and these scenes, the artist wants to capture, philosophize and comment on social processes such as depersonalization, Consumerism, Globalization and McDonaldization, Some of the phenomena he sees India sweeping through the 21st century.

Khandekar manages to do it appropriately in his half-abstract paintings, half-figurative of inhabitants of slums, American hackers and flags floating from Indian windows, questioning with irony the guarantee of its viewers on their own future and their companies.

It marks its surface with brand names, Disco lights and technological devices such as cell phones, And seems to believe that if people do not sit and do not notice the changes he has become aware, They will be consumed by a society in which people are controlled and judged by lifeless omnipotent devices, rather than by their own will.

Sanjeev believes that even anyone who has the chance to see what's going on, Indian society will be invaded by the culture without roots and traditions of the West, and warns us to sit down and take note.
