André Albert Tondu
He was born in Mill Montrambert to Marpain (Jura) the 11 February 1903 and died in Paris on 26 May 1980.
Becomes a painter and artist teacher at the National School of Fine Arts.
He becomes pupil of Fernand Cormon, Emile Renard (1850-1930) and Jean-Pierre Laurens, at the School of Fine Arts in Paris.
Winner for French Equatorial Africa in 1927, he painted African scenes until 1929 and participates in the Colonial Exhibition 1931. André realizes some studies kept at the National Museum of African Arts and Pacific Islanders Paris.
Winner of the Grand Prix de Rome 1931 with a table entitled : The return, he moved to Rome where he was a pupil of Paul Landowski at the Villa Medici.
Former director of the National School of Fine Arts in Dijon.
Works are present : the Museum of Modern Art in Paris, the Museum of Fine Arts in Dijon, at the Institute of France, the Museum of Algiers…
