Leray Léon (Saint Méen-Le-Grand 1901- 1976)
Painter and teacher.
Student of the School of Fine Arts in Paris under the direction of Fernand Cormon, he exhibited at the Salons of French Artists where he obtained a bronze medal, and at the Salon d & rsquo; Automne.
He lived in 82 rue Nationale in Pontivy (Morbihan)

AT THE FRENCH ARTISTS FAIR in Paris - M. Léon Leray, the painter well known to the Doëlannais, just received at the Salon des Artistes Français, his two paintings, Stoups of the Saint Gildas de Rhuys et Conveau church.
An article by L & rsquo; Ouest-Eclair dated 26 May 1944 presents an exhibition of the painter at the Galerie des Beaux-Arts in Rennes :
“The painter Léon Leray at the Beaux-Arts Gallery For several years, l & rsquo; excellent painter Léon Leray, a former student of our school of Fine Arts, was absent from pictorial events and it is a happy surprise for his friends and for art lovers to find his you full of freshness and light. Léon Leray indeed has a secure profession and’ a great mastery that allow him to paint works of exquisite sensitivity and great finesse of nuances.
The works of Léon Leray are currently exhibited at the gallery 1 Fine Arts Town Hall Square, and we hope that many amateurs will want to show their sympathy for this exceptional talent.”
