Ginnosuke Yokouchi (1870-1942)
Yokouchi Kiyoharu (1870-1942) also known as Yokouchi Ginnosuke lived in Yokohama and mostly did watercolors, but we have no details about his life.
engraver, printer
He was the best engraver, printer of the Shin Hanga movement. His skills have not been matched. Its ability to engrave and print to the highest standards set by the Master has been entrusted to just one person : his.
While his contemporaries Kawase Hiroshi Yoshida Hasui and obtain recognition of their association with the & rsquo; Watanabe editor, he still perfecting his art.
watercolourist
Prior to burning wood on career, Ginnosule YOKOUCHI, Kawase Hasui and Hiroshi Yoshida were all recognized as accomplished watercolor, each with a unique style that was reflected in their prints.
Complex images Yokouchi are closely related to the complexity of his watercolors. This is evident when looking at his woodcuts. His style is “tight” and “complex”. With the addition of tiny color droplets to highlight a damp or wet area, the print or painting would come to life. When you realize that each tiny dot of color represents an individually raised part of the print block, you begin to understand and appreciate its highly developed level of engraving.
Apart from a few engravers at Kawaguchi & Sakai ,no others have reached their skill level.
All of its print editions have very realistic drama with perfect artistic perspective.
Not only did he paint what he saw, but he had the ability to translate these images into woodcuts, what is more difficult. His etchings are “GOLD STANDARD” japanese woodblock prints.
