Pedro Victor FLORES (Murcia Spain 1897-1967)
Painter, and engraver.
Student of the School of Friends of the Country of Murcia and of the San Fernando Academy, to Madrid. He became a drawing professor at the Institut Balmes, from Barcelona.
This artist then had his studio in Paris constantly participating in the Spanish artistic life..
First National Prize for Engraving in 1937 ; second National Prize for Engraving in 1937 ; second National Painting Prize in 1938. He featured brilliantly at the Spanish Art Exhibition, in Paris 1933, at the National Fair in Madrid ; participating in various Parisian fairs, at the Art and Resistance exhibitions of Spanish Plastic Art, in prague, etc.
Pedro Flores is an artist dominated by the high desire to grant the deepest Hispanicism, that of the poets, to plastic requirements. He will have been sometimes like the Lorca of painting. Pedro Flores the illustré : Feet together, bullfighting commentary by J.Babelon, The Dom Juan de Molière (colored etchings), Black series by J. Lancien. For the theater, he made models of costumes and sets : The Prodigious Savetière by Garcia Lorca (Edouard VII Theater), The Tricorne de Falla (comical opera), Ibert's knight errant (National Academy of Music).
Works by this artist are kept in the museums of Paris, Céret, Perpignan, Madrid, Murcia, Prague…
