Jacques Alfred Brielman entered a porcelain painting workshop at the age of eleven., and had a difficult start.
He was a pupil of Eugène Lavieille, and became a landscape painter.
He painted in different regions of France : on the banks of the Marne and the Grand Morin, in the Bourbonnais or in Brittany.
An exhibition in Berry
Tomorrow opens at the Saint-Vic museum, the new Forestins exhibition. Entitled Art and matter , it brings together paintings and objects from Berry.
“The second room is devoted to rurality”, continues Nicole Imbault. We discover washhouse scenes by Jacques-Alfred Brielman. Below, on a shelf, are arranged the objects that we see in the painting : washerwomen's straw hat, washboards, a “cabasson” to kneel on…
Another painting by Brielman on leaving Mass. “We reconstructed the costumes, women, of man, of the child, as they are on the board, pointe Nicole Imbault. When the works do not belong to the Saint-Vic museum, they come from private collections, but also the music museum of Montluçon, of the Berry Museum in Bourges, of the Jean Baffier art center in Sancoins. »
Another work proposed by the Gallery.
