The point, former village of sailors on the banks of the Maine in Bouchemaine (Maine et Loire, France).

La Pointe is a district of the city of Bouchemaine, in Maine et Loire. The parish of Saint-Aubin de Pruniers is united between 1790 and 1794 to that of Saint-Symphorien de Bouchemaine, also including the village of La Pointe, to become the municipality of Bouchemaine.

This former fishing village is located in the confluence area between the Maine and the Loire, which regularly suffers from floods. The slope of the Maine being weak, the course of the Loire can slow down its flow.

Bouchemaine is a French commune located in the department of Maine-et-Loire, in the Pays de la Loire region. It is located on the southwestern outskirts of the Angevin capital and is part of the Angers Loire Métropole urban community.

The town of Bouchemaine has several buildings listed as Historic Monuments :

  • Château du Petit-Serrant and its outbuildings, of XVIIIe century, building listed as a historic monument
  • Saint-Symphorien Church, of the XIe, XIIe, XIIIe, XVe and XIXe centuries, building listed as a historic monument
  • Louzil Manor, of the XVe and XVIIIe centuries, building listed as a historic monument

Other places :

  • Plum Bridge, built in 1908, allowed the passage of a secondary railway line of the departmental network of Petit Anjou from Angers to Candé ;
  • Basses-Brosses and Chevalleries Regional Nature Reserve
  • Church of Saint-Aubin in Pruniers.
