He is the adopted son of Dr. Wahidin Sudirohusodo, a prominent figure of the Indonesian national movement, founder of Boedi Oetomo.

Abdullah is considered the first Indonesian painter in the 20th century, romantic style. In addition, it is included in an artistic movement dubbed “Beautiful India” which can be translated as “Beautiful Indies”.

Then he moved to Yogyakarta, where he died in 1941.
Abdullah is the father of famous painters Sudjono Abdullah and Basoeki Abdullah and the sculptress The third Abdullah.
