Georges Le Poitevin (Le Havre 26 May 1912 - Aix en Provence 1992)

The artist receives scholarship from the Abd-el-Tif Villa 1945. Very impressed with the two experiments that will turns Sahara 1949 at 1950 then 1956 at 1957, The Poitevin forgets his own work. This is especially the deep south that marks his imagination. He first traveled in Fezzan, then, with his comrades of the villa, Chambrin and Martin, agrees to follow the mission Henri Lhote to meet the frescoes of Tassili. Adventure is sponsored by Abbé Breuil, pioneer prehistory.

It reflects the experience : "It is infinitely moving to live in these regions, in such a setting, among the Tuareg and set on drawing paper rolls artistic sum of a lost civilization and the message of the men of this amazing past Saharan ". He chose to stay in Algeria after breaking 1962. Housed in Tipasa, he became curator.
