Art Deco wall patterns

Born in the years 1910, the Art Deco style is a French artistic movement born in a very particular context. Coming out of the war, we seek to re-enchant everyday life, to have fun and innovate, to break with the past. The codes of the Art Nouveau style hitherto in vogue were decried by the architects, who judge the arabesque shapes inspired by nature “soft” or “noodle style”. We prefer simplicity, casualness and comfort. It was during this period that avant-garde women cut their hair and gave up bustiers for comfortable outfits., designed for city living.
Art Deco thus advocates sober chic, simple and elegant, classical rigor and symmetry. The shapes are cubist in spirit, geometric and dynamic, and are part of a purely decorative purpose. Joy and frivolity are expressed through lame materials, luxurious, the predominance of gold and brass, velvet, and any other sign of wealth. tapestry techniques, Mosaic, ceramics, ironwork, stained glass or cabinetmaking are thus valued.
The Art Deco style did not take long to conquer the world and many buildings still testify to its glorious past. : Chrysler Building, Rockefeller Center, Empire State Building (New York), Grand Rex (Paris), Carnégie library (Reims), Palace of Fine Arts (Mexico), Hall Tony Garnier (Lyon)…etc.

Another work of still life.
