DAENS Antoine (Brussels 1871 - Ixelles 1946)
Post-Impressionist painter and pastel landscapes, genre scenes and figures.
Student at the Academy of Brussels. Professor at the Academy of Watermael-Boitsfort.
His works are very popular Mediterranean. He traveled for long periods in Italy, France and North Africa. He resided for several periods in Nice, with his brother.
Works in Ixelles museum.

“Around 1860, the rue du Financier is not yet called Godecharle. Briefly traced across fields, on the embankment of Luxembourg station, it has only one house, that of the gardener Leroy. Two years later, M. Leroy meets his first neighbors: the painters Bouillot and Dillens, which outline the artistic vocation of the district. From 1924 at 1932, the painter Jacques-Pierre Dierckx took over the 22 rue Godecharle. Dierckx dabbled in all forms of art and used to seek inspiration in night shelters.. Dierckx exhibited in Dresden, Vienna, Paris, Barcelona, Bream… He won the gold medal at the Brussels Exhibition, in 1910, with her “Asylum for Women”.
